In running a nonprofit, one of the very first things that you learn is that finding funding can be a challenge. There are so many great causes out there, and oftentimes these great causes are all vying for the same pools of money. And no matter how generous donors and grantors may be, they can only give so much. The question then becomes, “Now what?” What do we do to make sure we can maintain our mission?
For ArtXecute, the answer to that question is to seek ways to become self-sustaining—at least in part. We knew early on that we needed to be able to create ways to generate income ourselves.
After determining that, the natural next question became, “How?” How do we create streams of income that enable us to continue to do what we do for the youth in our community?
Several years ago I read a book by author Simon Sinek titled Start With Why. The premise of Sinek’s book is that most organizations communicate to the world by first explaining what they do: We make gadgets, dig ditches, bake pies, whatever. Sinek argues that the most inspiring, the most successful leaders, organizations, movements take the opposite approach. They communicate from the inside out. They start by sharing their why before they share their what: Here's what we believe. Here's why we exist. If you believe what we believe, here's what we do.
So, here’s our why . . .
At ArtXecute, we believe every young person has purpose and potential. We don’t just say that. We mean it.
We exist to provide young people with the opportunity to develop their voice, discover their gifts, and prepare for the challenges of life.
We do this through creative learning experiences that build positive community, instill empathy, demand discipline, and develop leadership.
Our workshops, trainings, and performances are intentionally designed to develop resilience and instill lifelong disciplines within our students that will enable them to recognize and utilize their abilities so that they are able to make a difference not only in their own lives but in the lives of others.
We wholeheartedly believe the stage is more than a place to perform. It’s a place to prepare.
So, if you believe what we believe, here’s what we do . . .
We sell ArtX Merch that not only supports ArtXecute’s mission and commitment to young people but celebrates our community as well.
There is GOLD in Goldsboro™.
Our aim is to . . . Find. Refine. And let it SHINE.
Every purchase helps us continue creating opportunities for young people to learn, lead, and succeed.
